Reported from the page Healthline, chocolate bars and chocolate candy is not recommended for consumption by people with irritable bowel syndrome. The reason, the content of caffeine and sugar high in chocolate can lead to abdominal pain and constipation. Even so, some types of low chocolate caffeine or even no caffeine at all may be consumed by people with bowel irritation.

Precisely a recent study shows that chocolate can act as a prebiotic, a component in foods that can increase the growth of good bacteria in the intestine.

In addition, prebiotics are also believed to relieve inflammation of the intestine as well as support the absorption of calcium. The researchers suggest that the flavanol content in chocolate is more absorbed in the colon than in the small intestine. That way, flavanols that enter the colon will interact with good bacteria in the intestine and work to relieve inflammation.

This idea is supported by another study that found that regular consumption of drinks with high chocolate flavanol content for four weeks increased the growth of Bifidonacteria and Lactobacillus bacteria. Both of these bacteria are allegedly beneficial to the intestines and health of the body.

Eating chocolate is also believed to prevent the emergence of disease-causing bacteria commonly grown in the lining of the human intestine, such as Clostridium bacteria.

But back again, each person who has irritable bowel symptoms have different symptoms so that the type of food to avoid is not always the same. The most important thing for people with intestinal irritation is to apply a healthy diet. If you have irritable bowel syndrome, you must have memorized the correct foods that can worsen the condition of the body, that should be avoided.
