This study lasted for 12 years. Every two years, the participants undergo clinical evaluation. Almost half of the participants developed metabolic syndrome during the study period.

According to National Blood, the Heart and Lung Institute, the metabolic syndrome increases the risk of developing all kinds of serious health problems. These include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke.

A study found that 40 percent of cancers have a relationship with weight. Other studies have found obesity kills more people than cigarettes.

Various risk of disease due to obesity

  • Gastrointestinal tract. Gastrointestinal problems such as inflammation of the sacs and bile ducts, fatty liver, and gastric reflux disease can also be triggered by obesity.
  • Other health problems such as respiratory, bone and joint problems, reproduction, to skin also haunt obesity.
